::5 minute mobility:: Today is one of our favorite ways to give your knees some relief after lots of jumping or running (marathon crew 👀). If you feel pain or tightness in the front of your knee it could be inflammation of your patellar tendon, so use this easy release with a lacrosse ball for relief: A) 10-20 contractions per side (R/L) Lay down on your stomach with a lacrosse ball on the floor positioned in the middle of your quad, right above your knee cap. Rest on your elbows or palms with your torso slightly elevated. Slowly pull your heel to your butt keeping pressure on the lacrosse ball and making sure it stays in position relative to your knee cap. Slowly release the foot back down to the floor. Repeat for 10-20 cycles each leg, trying to bring your heel a little closer to your butt each time. B) 10-20 contractions per side (R/L) Starting in the same position, rotate your leg to position the ball on the inside 1/3 of your quad. Slowly pull your heel across toward your opposite hip keeping pressure on the lacrosse ball and making sure it stays in position on the inside of your quad. Slowly release the foot along the same line back down to the floor. Repeat for 10-20 cycles each leg.

You want to have a miserable ten minutes? Do the Sit Rep fitness level WOD. Ten minute AMRAP, ascending ladder: 1 goblet squat, 1 burpee. Then 2 goblet squats, 2 burpees. Then 3... 4... 5... as far as you can get in ten minutes. It was a horrible ten minutes, but then it was over. Repost from @jazzydoeshair “Today marks three months of hard work, reality checks and determination. Six month ago, I was handed a challenge, my partner and I had purchased and moved into our dream property, and had an existing property sitting vacant for most of the summer which placed quite a bit of strain on us. We had just gotten off a two month trip to South America which I recommend to all young people (take a break from your life) we had rented out our tiny condo while we travelled and over lapped our arrival home with our renter knowing my in-laws or parents would happily house us for the month. This summer was full of firsts, new house, new dog and planning a wedding. And in return for all this excitement I decided to punishment my body. I celebrated, I celebrated our engagement, our new house, new dog, turning thirty, having a backyard, having a new couch, finishing our painting.... anyways you get it. I wasn’t taking care of myself, I had lost my routine, my love for working out, hobbies, hangouts. Everything became hard. I needed to find something, something to give me drive again. I love my job but this honestly wasn’t going to fill the void the way it had in the past. I need motivation. Basically I needed someone or something to kick my ass (sorry mum). I started looking for gyms in this new area we had moved into that I was so unfamiliar with... I quickly found @northstarfit I was introduced to Tara @tarabelllind and Louise. It didn’t take long for me to feel comfortable, the other members and friendly faces when you walk in. I honestly am so thankful for this gym... it got me back on track, back to who I know I am, gave me a bit of confidence and made me realize I just need to make this a lifestyle change not just a momentary change. This all being said I have stayed relatively sane while planning our wedding because of @northstarfit I can’t wait to see what another three months has to bring. The end of the "6 week Summer shred" and we had our post body scans by "Beyond Scans." All clients that finished the challenge increased their muscle mass and lost body fat. Well done to all participants. Below is Ben, lost 5.7kilo of fat and added 100grams of muscle and went down from 9 to 7 with his Visceral Fat score over the 6 weeks. We can see the start of his 6 pack now. With regular training (consistency) and a few small changes to their nutrition they all got results. This is just the beginning, with regular exercise and tweaking their nutrition the results will keep coming. We'll be doing an 8 week challenge early next year. Keep an eye out for the dates. “...In 2012 due in part to my past deployments and experience, I was offered the opportunity to join the Marine Special Operations Command. I received orders to the 1stMarine Raider Battalion to serve as the units Intelligence Officer. Upon arriving and attending special training, I was sent to Afghanistan where the Battalion HQ was currently deployed to better observe and learn how the unit operated. While there, I was sent to the Team level where they were conducting Village Stability Operations (VSO) in the Helmand Province. Though I was only there for 3 months, the deployment was more intense than anything I’d been through. It was here that I received shrapnel wounds in my leg from an 82mm Recoilless Rifle Round fired by the enemy. After recovering from the blast, the unit sent me back home, much to my dismay. I was then assigned an intelligence team consisting of numerous intelligence specialties and contractors with Bravo Company, 1stMarine Raider Bn in which we deployed back to Helmand Province, Afghanistan overseeing several Special Operations Teams in Intelligence operations and High Value Targeting. Upon return from this deployment, I again assumed duties as the 1stMarine Raider Battalion Intelligence Officer developing an organic intelligence body within the unit itself (independent of enablers) until I left the service.” . . .
